About GoPro

GoPro is a US company based in California. Starting from humble beginnings the founder Nick Woodman wanted to create a camera which him and his mates could use while surfing to record their action. After trying unsuccessfully to put various cameras on various mount he set off to the Far East to put his own design concept into place. The GoPro camera was born.

The first version of the GoPro camera was a wrist mounted film camera in a waterproof housing strapped on with some velcro and running off AA batteries. The video quality was left a lot to be desired. When looking at the amazing HD cameras which GoPro makes today it can be hard to believe that they used to be so basic.
